IIT Varanasi – The New Member of Colleges Accepting IIT JAM Score


The IIT JAM 2019 official notification came up with a good news for the IIT JAM aspirants. As per the notification, three new institutes have added the list of colleges accepting IIT JAM score card. The new members as per the notification are:


IIT Varanasi

IIT Bhilai

IIT Palakkad


These newest members will be accepting the IIT JAM 2019 score card for admission in the MSc courses. IIT Varanasi also known as IIT BHU is the oldest IIT from these three. About IIT Varanasi (IIT BHU)



IIT Varanasi, most commonly abbreviated as IIT BHU, is a public engineering college which is located in Varanasi (UP). The institute was formerly established in pre-independence phase as Banaras Engineering College in 1919. After independence, it became the Institute of Technology in year 1968 and the name changed to Banaras Hindu University. The institute was later designated as Indian Institute of Technology in the year 2012 and then it got the name – IIT BHU.


Ranking of IIT Varanasi (NIRF 2018)


With the motto of “Sanskar hi Shiksha”, the Institute is ranked among the top colleges of the nation. As per the NIRF 2018 (National Institute Ranking Framework) the institute was ranked 3rd among all the universities in India, 31st among the Top 50 Engineering Colleges in India. On overall factors, the institute is ranked 9th in India on overall factors.


Courses in IIT Varanasi for IIT JAM aspirants

Since, the number of colleges accepting IIT JAM scores has increased which means that the number of IT JAM seats for MSc courses has also increased. A total of 112 has been added as a result of addition of three new IITs. From these 112 seats, IIT Varanasi is offering a total of 40 seats for the M.Sc. courses.
