    IIT JAM Admission Procedure

    Admission in the academic programmes will be made on the basis of the merit list of JAM 2017. Only those candidates who have cleared any one of the two test papers are eligible to apply for admission in academic programmes and they must satisfy the minimum educational qualification and eligibility criteria specified by the institutes. Below are the details about the admission, fees and application form for JAM exam 2017.
    • Only candidates whose name appears on the merit list are eligible to apply for admission in IIT JAM exam.
    • Candidates who want to apply for admission at IITs or NITs can fill the online form available at JAM website.
    • Applicants can apply to one or more academic programmes, but should satisfy the minimum educational qualification and eligibility criteria. 

    The following procedure must be followed by the candidates in order to get admission for IIT JAM examination 2017:

    1. After the JAM results are declared, the selected candidate must fill in the admission form available at the JAM website.
    2. Whether a candidate is cleared in one or two test papers. he/ she have to fill only one admission form for IIT JAM exam.
    3. After logging in to the JAM website, the candidate need to fill in the details such as choice of programs, educational qualification, percentage of marks/ CGPA, category, PwD status, etc. After filling all of the details, candidate will have to make a payment of 600/- which is non-refundable. The payment can only be made through e-challan. Proceeding to payment, an e-challan will be generated in .pdf fomat. Candidate has to take the print out of the e-challan and make the payment in cash at any branch of the bank specified in the e-challan.
    4. The Admission Form will not be considered if it is found incomplete and the candidate will not be considered for admission. Note that a candidate will be considered for admission only to the programme(s) given in his/her Admission Form.
    5. Taking into consideration the order of preference as given in the Admission Form and corresponding rank(s) in the Merit List, the First Admission List for each programme under JAM 2017 will be prepared by the Organizing Institute.
    6. After declaration of the first admission list, admission offer will be sent to the selected candidates by respective institutes and candidates have to make an advance seat payment of Rs. 10000/- for General/OBC-NCL category candidates and Rs. 5000/- for SC/ST/PwD category candidates.
    7. If the seats remain vacant, then the second admission list will be generated. The candidates who are selected in second merit list will also have to make an advance seat payment of Rs. 10000/- for General/OBC-NCL category candidates and Rs. 5000/- for SC/ST/PwD category candidates.
    8. If the seats remain vacant even after the second admission list, then the Organizing institute will generate the third admission list and it will be the final admission list. Candidates selected in the third admission list will also have to make an advance seat payment.
    9. Third admission list will be the final admission list and after that, admission will be closed.
    10. If a qualified candidate fails to accept an admission offer, he/she will not be considered further in the admission process.
